Students from St Joan of Arc School, Rickmansworth, have been given the opportunity to quiz their local councillors on issues related to the area they live and school in, at a recent forum.

Over 200 Year 7 pupils took part in the event, which saw local councillors Ann Shaw, Chris Hayward and Ron Spellen, put under the spotlight.

Members of staff from Three Rivers Council, then finished off the morning with a series of quizzes and presentations about how their work affects the local community.

Ann Shaw, leader of Three Rivers District Council and Youth Champion, said: “We are delighted to welcome more young people to the council and help support St Joan of Arc School’s citizenship curriculum.

“These young people are the voters of tomorrow and future leaders of the community, and it is so important that they have the opportunity to find out more about local democracy and why it is essential to vote and have a say,” explained Cllr Shaw.
