M25 Widening plant in Rickmansworth

Your web site is an excellent portal for safeguarding the local area and bringing important issues to the local people.
I was very pleased to see the victory for common sense over big money contractors planning to use the agricultural land at Heronsgate for a M25 plant withdrawn. Unfortunately they are now making another attempt to do the same to the ground adjacent to Long Lane by the roundabout on the A412 Denham Way. This site will be massive and result in mass dumping/landfill and I worry once the site is removed an ulterior motive by the developers is to push mass housing on what has always been agricultural land.
The residents on the Mill End side of the A412 are greatly opposed to the development and feel the environmental impact as well as particularly road safety along the A412 in both Rickmansworth and Maple Cross is of great concern with heavy good lorries using it as a cut through from the A40 and Uxbridge.
Residents of Rickmansworth will be directly effected by traffic flow and size of vehicle using the already congested roads perhaps even 24 hours per day! Currently the residents of Mill End have set up a committee to fight this development and wish to spread news of plans to as many local residents as possible.
Anyone out there who would like to comment?

Good for you. Where can I find more details about the widening plans, and the committee?

I WENT TO THE MEETING AT WATERSMEET LAST WEEK AND WAS HUGELY IMPRESSED BY THE INTELLIGENT AND HEARTFELT ARGUEMENTS WITH WHICH OUR FELLOW RESIDENTS BATTLED AGAINST THIS PLAN. THE CHAIRMAN WAS SUPERB AS WERE OUR REPS. ON THE COUNCIL. IT APPEARED THAT THE CONTRACTORS WERE ILL-INFORMED AND OUT OF THEIR COMFORT ZONE - BUT... I FELT THERE WAS A BIT OF A DEAL GOING ON SOMEWHERE AND THAT MILL END WAS, AFTER ALL, ACTUALLY THE MAIN OPTION. MAYBE HERONSGATE WAS A BIT OF A BLIND DESIGNED TO GET THOSE RESIDENTS BEHIND THE MILL END PROPOSAL. IT DIDN'T WORK.
WELL..I HOPE IT DIDN'T. -

I have just found this !!!!!!!
"Three Rivers District Council and Skanska Balfour Beatty have reached an agreement to change the location of the proposed compound near Junction 17.
Ann Shaw, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said:
“I am delighted and relieved. Residents and the Council have worked closely together to protect local homes and our environment.”
Steven Halls, Three Rivers’ Chief Executive, said:
“I am delighted that Skanska Balfour Beatty continued our dialogue over the last fortnight and that we could reconsider the position of the compound. I am pleased that David Blackburn was happy to continue talking with us to meet a mutually satisfactory decision about the position of the compound.”
David Blackburn, Managing Director of Skanska Balfour Beatty, said:
“We have further reviewed the Junction 17 compound proposal with Three Rivers District Council and the Highways Agency. After extensive consultation a decision has been taken to reconsider our plans for the compound and therefore not locate it near Junction 17 at Mill End. It is still intended to provide the environmental mitigation bunds to minimise any future effects from the motorway.”

I have been following this debate and I am happy to read the above response - though I still feel the final outcome is still up in the air.
On a further note, is there a way we can reduce the large lorries that charge down the A412 (Uxbridge Road) from Rickmansworth? This road has become busier and busier and they are too large for this road and disrputs the general day to day traffic. My house literally shakes from the weight and noise.
Can anyone help direct me please?
Thank you
