Bar Bodega, Watford

9th October 2009, 3:26pm

A roomy bar that has cornered the over-25 market in Watford, a haven for anyone that wants to escape the bars that Watford has become known for, effectively it's a welcome escape.

Bold is beautiful at Bodega, several large sofas take up the creaking floor while a huge mirror dominates the wall. Below the mirror an unbelievable amount of candle wax has collected, it has to be seen to be believed - though don't go there for the candle wax, go for the range of wines and beers as well as a decent menu.

The Sunday roast, won't be the biggest meal you've ever eaten, but quality wise it's up there with any gastro pub i've been to.

Gets busy Friday, and on Saturday it's hard to move at peak hours, so get in early if you're after a seat. Tends to be much more quiet during the week and Sunday nights.

you're right it is an escape, why aren't there more bars like Bodega in Watford??? Disagree on the food front by the way, i thought there was plenty on my plate the other Sunday.

Same company own the feathers in Ricky I think - can anyone confirm that? They def look the same anyway...

Yes, same people own The Feathers in Ricky, which is also a nice pub - possibly more of a restaurant though, Bodega tends to attract more drinkers from what i've seen - both worth visiting.
